Pantone recently announced Ultra Violet as their Color of the Year for 2018, and we are on board! This vibrant color is complex, mysterious, and a great fit for couples who like to push the boundaries of traditional wedding design.
We’re taking this opportunity to feature some projects from our portfolio that incorporate this statement color. If you see something that inspires you, get in touch! We love to help you bring your vision to life.
We had the pleasure of working with Weddings Magazine to create the invitations and stationery for a dinner they held at The Oaks at Salem, with a French Provincial theme. The evening promised an al fresco food experience, with guests enjoying farm-to-table cuisine cooked with French flair in the open air. The balmy June weather and beautiful venue set the stage for an evening of delicious food, enchanting music, and flowing conversation!
French Provincial Evening with Weddings Magazine
For Weddings Magazine, we created a rustic French chic invitation suite, with tones of coral and navy anchored by a bark-textured kraft lotus fold backing card. Pops of red lace and polka dots added layers of texture and color, while a navy toile band wrap was topped with a metallic antique gold seal. Featuring a vintage ‘etched’ illustration style, the French provincial theme of the evening was carried through the invitation suite and menus through the etched illustrations, with fleur-de-lis flourishes and a custom illustration of the venue, The Oaks at Salem.
We worked with Cheryl-Anne Kast of Kast Events to stage this beautiful photo shoot for The Southeastern Bride, Book Two, “In Bloom”. It was a great experience working with these other local vendors to realize her vision of an elegant Spring floral wedding!
Southeastern Bride Photo Shoot
For this design, we created a soft wedding suite to vibe with April florals for this Spring wedding. Tones of blush are anchored by a soft gray pocket fold, which neatly contains a detail card with a custom map, a rehearsal dinner card that carries through the floral illustrations from the invitation, and an RSVP card. The matte, textured gray is formal and traditional but still soft, and the blush tones are neutral but add romance and subtle color. A beautiful digital handwriting font and custom monogram seal were other focal points of the design.

We had the pleasure of working with Becca and Terry, whose destination wedding at Niagara Falls gave us plenty of inspiration. We enjoyed their color palette of blush and navy, and the opportunity to add some gold ink to their vintage inspired vibe.
Formal and Romantic in Niagara Wedding
For Becca and Terry’s design, we were thrilled to use a cool printing technique called thermography. This process uses heat to apply inks to paper that results in a glossy, slightly raised finish that looks very luxe while being less expensive than traditional letterpress. It can be a great option for couples who are looking for that wow factor while working within a budget!
We created an invitation suite for Becca and Terry in navy and blush, which have been popular colors over the past year. The navy is formal and traditional, and the blush tones are neutral but add softness, romance, and subtle color. A beautiful digital calligraphy font, hand-drawn flourishes, and the metallic gold thermography were other focal points of the design.

We had the pleasure of working with Lauren and Terry. They were planning a destination wedding to Amelia Island, Florida. They had a vision of a formal, traditional beach wedding, and we designed a luxe wedding suite to complement their style.
Formal Beach Wedding
For Lauren and Terry’s design, we worked with an ecru and gold color palette. The invitation panel, details card, and RSVP card were foiled stamped in gold, and their ecru envelope featured a metallic gold envelope liner. Their extras included custom napkins with their monogram in gold foil, escort cards printed on a metallic gold card stock that matched the envelope liner, menus printed in gold foil, and itinerary/welcome cards with whimsical beachy accents including sunglasses, shells, and flip flops.

We had the pleasure of working with Melanie and Greg, a couple who wanted to celebrate their connections to Durham, NC, and Washington, DC, as well as their historic wedding venue at Duke Chapel in Durham.
Navy and Coral Duke Chapel Wedding
For Melanie and Greg’s wedding, we created a vintage inspired design that drew on the stone work at Duke Chapel for inspiration, including some original drawings based off the carved cathedral. Pieces also included skylines, a custom monogram, and a balance between traditional and modern elements.

It was a delight to custom illustrate a rustic stationery collection for a wedding at The Barn at Fearrington Village, located near Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Our stationery collection included ink and watercolor drawings of The Barn and the trademark Galloway cows of Fearrington Village. The illustrations we created were mixed with pale gray woodgrain textured pocket cards, a hint of rouge, and lots of lovely Southern hospitality.
Fearrington Village Details
This wonderful couple spent time on all the little details such as tags for cowbell place cards, fans to take the edge off a warm late summer garden ceremony, napkins, drinkware, treat bags for their guests, and so many other special things. They partied ’till the cows came home… (See our festive hotel door hangers if you need proof.)

We had the pleasure of working with Jessye and Daniel, a lovely couple who met through going to school together at UNC. Their playful wedding was held at The Chapel Hill Carriage House, a working farm, with goats and alpacas happy to pose for photos and befriend wedding guests. The lush summer flowers and foliage provided a natural inspiration for their color palette, and their love of travel became part of the design.
Playful Chapel Hill Farm Wedding
For Jessye and Daniel’s design, we wanted a playful feeling to correlate with the whimsical farm wedding they had planned. Their color palette of blush and purple carried through the floral arrangements at the wedding and reception, while the couple’s love of travel was reflected in the table numbers and escort cards at the reception. A beautiful digital calligraphy font and custom monogram were other focal points of the design.

Are you not sure where to start? Too many options?
For some couples, it’s easiest to start with a pre-made template. We have hundreds of ready-made wedding designs in our design files. And in addition to simplifying your decision process, when you choose an existing design, you save $150 on custom design time. (Choosing an existing design, means we will not change graphics and usually may only make one change to a font style… Otherwise, we need to charge something for the time to do a greater customization, although that is also possible.)
Also, you will still have your choice of printing techniques: digital press, thermography (raised ink best for single-color more simple designs), or our luxe favorite, letterpress (engraved print that is best for designs that are usually turned into a single-color version).
These templates were created (and are copyright protected) by our major stationery supplier, Envelopments. Click here to see more examples of Envelopments templates that we can customize quickly for your projects. And click here for even more templates, created in 2014. And then there is our storehouse of our own customized projects, which we have put into our portfolios. These designs can also be tweaked and recreated easily. We have several hundred other new customized designs pending photography; but samples are available in-studio for you to browse.
Remember, in order to get started on your design, we need to know the NAMES of the couple in order to look up the template you have chosen. We hope to hear from you soon!
With hundreds of pre-made templates, we can customize your colors to match your event.
Finally, we offer ONE MORE OPTION for templates. Through our streamlined Make-It-Mine catalogues, you are able to order quickly and directly. If you fall in love with any of these designs, they can be quickly duplicated. However, fonts, graphics, and color choices are more limited in an effort to make this option as simple and straightforward as possible. If you are interested in a Make-It-Mine design template, please feel free to email us at designer@indigoenvelope.com. Many of these collections are in the $6-$9 range, to give you an idea for price. The final cost depends on the number of extra information cards, and whether you need us to address your envelopes for you.
